The rise of populism, trade protectionism, and human rights violations are but some of the most pressing global challenges. The effects of these global trends are already being felt in Canada and have implications for the prospects of both domestic and international prosperity. This plenary will unpack the ways global trends are leading change in global order and structures, where and how Canadian values, interests and priorities are affected by this, and the challenges we face in providing effective leadership in foreign policy.
