Sean McCloskey is a first-year student at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, majoring in Global Studies. During Sean’s grade 11 & 12 years he was honoured to be a Student Trustee for the Renfrew County District School Board and for the 2018-19 academic year he also served as the Public Board Council Vice-President of the Ontario Student Trustee’s Association. During his time as a Student Trustee, Sean participated in a number of advocacy opportunities. This included writing an article on Special Education for the Ontario Public School Boards Association, participating in lobby days at Queens park with Members of Provincial Parliament, constructing letters to the government expressing concerns about educational amendments and visiting multiple northern Ontario school boards promoting cooperation and participation with Ontario’s main student stakeholder. He is now furthering his representation of youth by participating in the CCIC’s Summit on Canada’s Global Leadership as a Moderator. Following his Post- Secondary Education Sean would like to pursue a career in International Relations.
