Director of Canada’s new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Unit
Ugo Thérien is the Director of Canada’s new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Unit within Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The SDG Unit is mandated with coordinating development of a whole-society National Strategy for the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Canada, and administering a SDG Funding Program to support organization that are advancing progress. Ugo is a communication and issues management specialist and for the past decade has worked across multiple portfolios within ESDC to foster collaboration, build partnerships and modernize government communications practices to reach Canadians.
