In 2019, we live in a more connected world than ever before. More and more, countries are making investments in digital infrastructure. If harnessed appropriately, digital technology can help to lift millions of people out of poverty through better access to healthcare, education, information, and markets.

Making this vision a reality means institutionalizing digital technologies globally, so they are a scalable and effective set of resources for country governments, civil society and the private sector, as well as using new sources of data seamlessly and safely. The Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) is tackling the challenges that hinder the creation of scalable products, citizen-first policies, commercially attractive pricing and sufficient digital literacy among all people.

This interactive session will share lessons DIAL has learned to help NGOs and civil society better leverage technology in their development and humanitarian programs, and to help governments deliver lifesaving financial, educational, agricultural and health services to meet the SDGs. We will cover key topics for digital transformation, including the Principles for Digital Development and a whole-of-government approach to technology adoption. Participants will leave with a better understanding of what resources are available to them and how they can leverage digital in their work.
