Michael Bitz

Project Director and Public Financial Management Expert, Cowater Internationa

Michael Bitz is a Project Director and Public Financial Management Expert at Cowater International. Michael has over 20 years of experience in leading and managing international development assistance initiatives on issues related to government reforms, public financial management system’s assessments, governance, and audit capacity. In 2005, Michael started his consultancy career working for organizations such as the IMF and World Bank advising government’s in developing economies on reforms to their financial systems and practices. In 2005, Michael and his family relocated to Tanzania, and subsequently to Vietnam and finally to Tunisia from 2010 to 2014 before returning to Ottawa to join Cowater. Since 2016, Michael has assumed responsibility for an 18 million dollar Government of Canada funded project which seeks to improve oversight of the extractive sector in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Madagascar and Mali.
