Hasnat Ahsan

Hasnat has over 12 years of experience in leading the design, implementation and management of international and humanitarian programmes, public engagement, and advocacy and campaigning work with a focus on women’s rights and gender equality over multiple countries. Hasnat has worked in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Middle East where she played a leadership role in the overall management of operations and was responsible for leading the implementation of emergency food security and vulnerable livelihoods (EFS-VL), protection, cash transfer programming (CTP) and water and sanitation (WASH), all through a people-centred, context-specific feminist lens. She also has experience working closely with country directors to ensure timely, high quality, and safe emergency responses. Fun fact: Hasnat is an avid traveller and hopes to visit countries for every letter of the alphabet! So far, she has reached 16 out of the 26 letters! Hasnat graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Microbial Genetics and Psychology. She also completed several courses on civilian-military relations, peace operations, and humanitarian policy and influence in armed conflicts. Hasnat speaks several languages including French, Hindi, Urdu and Bangla. She was born in Bangladesh and raised in Montreal and has a lovely and highly active two and a half years old to keep her on her toes!
